Whether you’re posting to Instagram yourself or commenting on a friend’s Facebook post, social media has become part of our daily lives and conversations. The same goes for businesses. Small or large, businesses have to maintain an active, thriving social media presence to compete in any market. But the reality is, is you can’t expect results from social when you post randomly, comment scarcely or tag a few accounts and then call it a day. You need structure. You need a plan. And we can help!

Here are 30 easy, quick tips to help you grow your social presence overnight…

Setting up your accounts

  1. Set SMART goals per social channel. Your goals for Facebook will differ from LinkedIn or Instagram.
    • Specific: specifically identify the social channel and a response rate
    • Measurable
    • Achievable
    • Relevant
    • Time-bound
  2. Identify your audience. Your target audience, or prospects, will help you determine what social channels to post on, when to post, what type of content you should post, and your brand voice.
  3. Complete all of your social profiles. Before you use your social profiles to market your business, make sure all of your information is filled out and up to date. This includes your address, contact information, web address, etc.
  4. Set up Google analytics. Google Analytics will allow you to see results from your marketing campaigns and measure improvements, traffic, and conversions.
  5. Promote all of your social channels. Look for ways to add links from one social profile to another. For example, link to your YouTube channel to your Facebook page and vice versa.
  6. Create an editorial calendar. Creating a content schedule shouldn’t be something “extra” you do. This step is key to managing several social media accounts and maximizing engagement. It will allow you to fine-tune each post for each platform and ensure that you aren’t repeating content over and over.

  1. Post directly to Facebook. We don’t recommend using a social media management platform because Facebook’s algorithms favor content published directly.
  2. Keep posts short. Save the long posts for your blog.
  3. Don’t hard sell. Generally, people aren’t looking at Facebook to make a purchase. Show them your product but don’t be too salesy.
  4.  Post photos and videos to your timeline. Research shows these are the most shared types of content.
  5.  Engage in conversation. Monitor and respond to comments as well as ask questions on your page.

  1.  Include links in your profile. Then, mention the link in your photo description.
  2.  Post original photo and video content. Your followers will appreciate the authenticity of your account.
  3.  Create your own hashtags to build a community around your brand.
  4.  Create a series of photos or videos. This could be a ‘behind the scenes’ or new product launch series. Either way it will keep your followers coming back for more.
  5.  Use detailed descriptions. Instagram is highly visual, but don’t skimp on the descriptions. This can really put a video or picture into context.

  1.  Create specific boards related to your products or offerings.
  2.  Add links to your descriptions. This will help drive traffic to your website or landing pages.
  3.  Promote your blog content with eyecatching images.
  4.  Engage with other pins of businesses in your industry. This will encourage them to engage with you back.
  5. Schedule your pins. You can upload a bunch of them at once and then schedule them out to be posted. Then, you can see the analytics for each one you’ve shared.
  6. Add a Pin It button next to shareable photos on your website.

  1. Optimize your LinkedIn company page. Include three to four target keywords in the main description section.
  2.  Post to your page. Just like you can update your status on Facebook, LinkedIn offers status updates. You can see the number of impressions and clicks you get for each update as well. They can be targeted to a specific audience or shared with all of your followers.
  3.  Be active in relevant groups. Become a part of the community or organizations by asking questions, starting conversations or linking to and from other businesses.
  4.  Post your blog and article content. Post your blogs, whitepapers, articles, etc. to gain followers on LinkedIn and increase traffic to your website.
  5.  Run highly targeted ads.  LinkedIn offers targeting options other platforms do not.
